I wrote this to my younger parts that were freaking out as I was standing up for myself with the lawsuit. Parts of me were feeling terrorized, and terrified of retaliation.
This poem reminded them: we can be scared and still be powerful, vulnerability magnetizes our allies, and messy courage is deconstructing white supremacy.
Baby, you’re sensational
Baby, you’re a tease
Baby, drop the bucket
Quit pulling on that string
Baby is a Strega
She’s a problem
You should see
Baby likes the corner
Because baby likes to think
Baby is a supernatural kind of a thing
Baby is the only sex to make another human breathe
Baby told me shush
her intuition
Silence herSELF
Baby might be magic
But baby will never tell
✧ If this speaks to your younger self, share it with her. Whisper it. Shout it. Let her know she was never the problem. ✧
To the women exiled to corners for being “too much,” may you turn them into altars.
"Vulnerability magnetizes allies"...Phew! I'm gonna have this on repeat.
