Rotten Fruit, Ripe Truths
A soft launch into the strange, sacred mess of surviving and storytelling.

Welcome to Rotten Fruit Press.
The creative corner of Jennifer Campo’s writing world—also known here on Substack as @jennifercampo.
I’m a long-time writer, beginner sharer—finally stepping out of the writing closet after surviving the fuckery of an atrocious lawsuit. You can read about that here.
Here, I publish under my name (👋 hi, I’m Jennifer), and Rotten Fruit Press is the thematic umbrella for all my creative fermentation. It’s where poetry, pop-culture fanfic, and a deep Sicilian-lore obsession bubble up into something strange, soft, and saucy. (Sorry, I had to.)
🖋 My Current Project: Strange Woman
Part memoir, part user manual, part ancestral haunting—Strange Woman documents my journey after surviving sexual assault by a doctor (who is, by the way, still practicing). It’s the guidebook I needed after pressing charges, and a love letter to survivors. Spoiler: it’s not you, babe.
Even if it seems like Sicilian folklore and pop culture fanfic have nothing in common, they all thread into Strange Woman. I think in systems and see the world as a stage. I’m unraveling the stories we’ve inherited—often stranger than fiction—and exploring the programming that shapes us. This work is about peeling back those layers: art about art. Threading the lies out of our souls.
